The BB-8 was the grounded low voltage battery enclosure, monitor, and charger.

This board was designed to hold batteries to run the low voltage systems in the FSAE car. When our high voltage battery was switched on, low would be pulled from the larger, accumulator. At the same time, the dedicated low voltage batteries on this board would be recharged.

Additionally, the batteries temperatures were monitored by specialized ICs and configured with logic components so that the board would halt operation before critical temperatures could be reached.
